(Solved) VVDI2 BMW 5.6.0 error need higher firmware support

VVDI 2 BMW 5.6.0 new tool arrived, Just tried to make key for BMW and i got that message on the screen saying “This version need higher firmware support, please update your VVDI2”. Not making key anyway. Obviously its latest firmware and software on PC.

Share a Help file from my OBDSTAR X300 DP PAD (Toyota Smart key All keys Lost)
I previously test the menu in toyota 2009 year w/ smartkey:

Read eeprom === successful (note: you need to read repeatedly and backup because sometimes it read all data “0000s” value)
Reset Smart ECU === it appeared function not supported

I have not tested yet the simulate smart key because I have no P001 option yet, need internet connection to do this, I will try it soon, I will gamble for that price, its a little cheap.

1.  Introduction:

This software function supports all key lost programming of 94/D4、98、88/A8、A9 models for Toyota (2007~2017) vehicles;

OBD can read the data from the original car to generate a simulate card that can switch the ignition on.

This function can clear and add a smart key without dismantling the smart box and other modules;

The equipment accessories to be used include OBDSTAR P001 Programmer RFID Adapter, Toyota simulate card and CR2032

button battery (The battery is not fitted in this device, you need to buy it on your own):

2.  Simulate card analysis:

Simulate card 1 applies to the vehicle with 94/D4 type of smart key;

Simulate card 2 applies to the vehicle with 98 type of smart key;

Simulate card 3 applies to the vehicle with 88/A8 type of smart key;

Simulate card 4 applies to the vehicle with A9 type of smart key;

Simulate cards are reusable, and after the completion of key programming, turn off the power or remove the battery, then the simulate card recovers initial status promptly;

III. Simulate card generating process:

1. After reading the stored EEPROM data from the original vehicle, select “Simulate card generating” ,as the following picture shows:

2. Note: During the simulate card generating process, the battery must be full. If the simulate card indicator flashes, it indicates the battery is low, please replace the battery;

3. Select “EEPROM reading” function to read the stored EEPROM data from the original vehicle;

4. To generate the simulate card, connect a server, please ensure perform the above operation within WIFI network environment.

5. Connect the OBDSTAR Scanner P001 programmer, select simulate card 1-4 according to the instructions, and insert it into the programmer. The device will identify the type of simulate card automatically on the basis of the original vehicle data. It identifies the type of the current vehicle is simulate card 3 according to “090909.bin” EEPROM data from the current vehicle.

6. Generate successfully, programmer “Status” indicator is blue, or it is red, as shown above.

7. After generating successfully, ensure the battery of simulate card is sufficient in the process of clearing and adding keys. If turn off the power by accident or the battery is dropped out, please perform the simulate card generating again and then clear and add the smart key;

Attention! For some vehicles from 2007 to 2010, select type 1 and reset immobilizer box programming directly without generating the simulate card;

How to Use The OBD II Scanner Tool

The Basics

As you go through this you will find that there are any number of terms and abbreviations and the like that might not be clear. Let’s see if we can demystify some of these. For starters, Obd ii scan tool for On Board Diagnostics. And when you get into the problem codes you will see many places list DTC. This simply means Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

These obd2 code reader can be broken out to generic and enhanced. Generic codes will mean the same things regardless of the make and model of car in question. These codes generally begin with P0 or P2 and then are followed by a 3 digit number. These faults tend to be ones that could indicate air pollution problems. Enhanced DTCs normally begin with P1, these codes are specific to the make and model as well as sometimes the year and at times even engine size of a car. These codes are ones that you need to make sure you have looked up properly.

Some codes are listed as pending. This simply means that a piece of data that would flag the code was observed, but the system is not going to completely flag it if it doesn’t happen a certain number of times in a given period. More simply, there was something that went wrong, but it is something that isn’t a problem if it doesn’t happen frequently.

You may also see the MIL status listed. The MIL is the malfunction indicator light. This is generally the check engine light (or the service engine soon light). The status lets you know if there was a problem that has caused the light to need to come on or not. At times you will have a fault that can cause a code, even a code that is not pending, but it is not a big enough issue to turn on the light.

Components Needed: Hardware + Software

The components of the tool are simple, there is the device itself and the software that it runs and both of these must work together to do their job. A device that was built several years ago might still work fine, but if you have never updated the software that it is running, you aren’t going to have the newest codes and settings.

While this may not be a problem if your car is not quite as new as your tool, but once you try working on a car that is newer you may have issues. For the most part, the generic codes don’t change overly much, but some manufacturer specifics may have. You don’t want to launch into a repair on the wrong part because of outdated codes.

The software also plays a huge role when you are working with a wireless option. With these, you will need the software application loaded on your phone or tablet. For the most part, these can update fairly frequently, but if you don’t have it or can’t run the app, your hardware is as good as a paperweight.

Step by Step Installation Guide

These devices don’t need a lot of high-tech tools to tell you what is going on with your car. While each different device will have a slightly different procedure, a basic process for using them can be found here.

Step 1 Connect

To get any data you are going to need to plug your device into your car’s OBD port. This is normally found somewhere on the driver’s side, in the region under the steering wheel. Your car’s manual should point you to the right location and short of that a quick google search or some old-fashioned poking around should quickly reveal the location.

If you have a wireless model you’ll need to find your attached device. For most, you will need to turn the key to the on position (many will ask you not to fully start the car, though).

Step 2 Read

Your device will read the data it is receiving in order to come up with the problem code. Depending on your particular set up it may start going through this process once the key is turned or you may need to command it to run a diagnostic. Either way, once the scanner has found the issue it will display a code or a number of codes.

Step 3 Understand

Having the code is great, but unless you’ve memorized all the problem codes it is only the first step. You will need to understand what that string of letters and numbers is telling you is wrong and probably what needs to be done to fix it.

If you have some styles this will meaning going through a book or CD of codes to come up with what it means or a quick online search. The more high-end models will provide an onscreen display to explain the issue. If your model has a built-in guide, it may even tell you a few things you can do to fix the problem.

Step 4 Make an Action

Now that you are sure you know what the code says and have an idea of what caused it, you will need to make an action. This could be anything from merely clearing the code to doing some work on the car or just taking Truck Diagnostic Tool into the mechanics to fix the problem.

Sometimes codes will trip because something gave the car a false signal, this would be a case to clear it and go on. If there truly is a problem the light will come back on. Otherwise, either you or your mechanic will do some work prior to resetting the code.

Lan Connect Operation Details
1. Connect the LAN cable to ICOM A1/ICOM A2, another side to laptop LAN port
2. Connect OBDII cable to car OBDII Port; sometimes you might need the external OBDII cable.
3. Insert the USB KEY to laptop USB Port and power on the laptop
4. Input the password: BMW ICOM (all Capital letters) and press “Enter” to continue.
5. Wait the software well loaded (The red letters disappear and the offline day appears)

6. Choose ISTA/D or ISTA/P to enter the diagnostic or programming software.
7. For ISTA/D Choose [Vehicle identification] and choose read out vehicle data or start vehicle
test to diagnostic with cars.

8. For ISTA/P choose [Create new session], then choose the free icom, it will read out all the
vehicle’s information and modules one by one.

Wireless Connection Details
1. Power on the router firstly, till the green LED is flashing on the router. (Important)
2. Connect the ICOM A1/ A2 to car OBDII port via the OBDII cable and make the ignition on.
3. Wait till the ICOM A1/ A2 WLAN LED is light up and flashing (around 10 seconds or so)
4. Insert the USB KEY to laptop USB Port and power on the laptop
5. Input the password: BMW ICOM (all Capital letters) and press “Enter” to continue.
6. Wait the software well loaded (The red letters disappear and the offline day appears)
7. Choose ISTA/D or ISTA/P to enter the diagnostic or programming software.
8. For ISTA/D Choose firstly, then choose [VCI Config], check the IP address like this:
192.168.1.100 / 255.255.255.255
9. The interface type must choose [HO-ICOM/ENET direct connection], click save and close the
window.

10. Choose [Identification] then choose [Read Out Vehicle data], then choose [Start Vehicle
Test].

11. At the popup screen, please confirm the IP address is [192.168.1.100] and choose [ICOM],
and then system will read out all the car information and modules one by one.

NOTICE:
1. All the internal settings are well configured, please DO NOT change settings, this might lead
the software not working.
2. Switch between LAN and WLAN, you need plug off the OBDII cable from car and re-plug in
(Make the ICOM A1/A2 multiplexer restart)
3. Please keep your laptop/ Routers with stable power when using.
4. If you cannot diagnostic with cars by WLAN, please make sure the router is powered on and
restart the laptop to try.
5. All operations must base on the software well loaded! (red letter disappear and offline day
appear)

The teck 2 scanner is able to check all GM before 2009

I  just did a “Fast-Learn” on a G8’s 6L80E last week with mine. A Snap-On MODUS was not able to do this. There are simply factory diagnostic procedures that a T2 can do on GM vehicles that no other tool can. But yes, to reflash PCM’s, TCM’s, etc, you need to have authorization from the Tech Center, which means you have to be a dealership or a paying subscriber to the service which is a serious chunk of $$$$.

With that said, Bosch (who now owns the rights to GM Tech 2‘s as they purchased out Vetronix), will not support the unit because it’s a factory knock-off. So should you have to replace the VCI module (I’ve had to replace mine due to wear and tear on the connection where it damaged the motherboard inside), or any other necessary repair.

Also, T2’s can only be updated through 2009 MY vehicle info, was my understanding from GM. For 2009+ GM has gone to a new setup called MDI. GM MDI is backwards compatible with pre-2009 GM vehicles (it even has the software on the screen to emulate the screens you’d see on the T2).

So is this teck 2 scanner able to check all GM before 2009 obd2 with out extra software? Also wonder if it can check the cam/ distributor retard timing on vortex 350

I think the GM MDI system will go back to 2009, but the Tech2 seems to work as far as its updated. Obviously I don’t have any 2012-2013 vehicles to try it on though.

It will work on any Car Diagnostic Tool GM OBD2, meaning 1996+.

How to Add Benz W639 with CGDI Pro and CGDI MB

Step 2:Adding New Key

Run CGDI MB software and load EIS data you save before.Then software will show the password.

Click “Generate EE”,then click “Load EIS File” button to load the EIS data.(This EIS data saved by CGDI MB software,not by CGDI Pro software.)

3. Insert the SD card to USB port of the computer via a SD card reader, run the PC Suit, then input your OBD2 Scanner Autel ID and password to log in our system. If you forget your password unintentionally, you may always click the [Forget Password?] to link to our website and reset your password.

4. Then wait for the Update window to display.
You can use the pull-down menu on the right corner to select the correct SD card if two or more SD cards have been connected to the PC. And you can click on the Install button to download the software updates.
To ensure the good performance of the scan tool, it is recommended to download and install all the software updates.
